Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has refused to comment on talk that Real Madrid have lodged an £80million offer for Gareth Bale.
Villas-Boas announced on Friday that he had opened talks with Bale over a new contract, in a bid to secure his future at White Hart Lane.
But reports then emerged that Bale had told Spurs he would not be signing a new deal, with Madrid reportedly lodging an £80million offer for his services.
And when asked whether a bumper offer had arrived from Madrid, Tottenham boss Villas-Boas refused to deny it.
‘We are not going to make any comment on that,’ he said.
‘We are speaking with his agent about possible improvements to his contract, but we don’t need to make any further statements than the ones we made before.’
