Usain Bolt learns Russian and talks up a world record bid ahead of world championships


Usain Bolt has been preparing for his assault on next month’s world championships in Moscow – with a crash course in teach-yourself Russian.

And the six-time Olympic sprint gold medallist has also revealed he is capable of breaking his own 100metres world record, and is targeting ‘something special’ by breaking the 19-second barrier for 200m.

Bolt has not only been working not only on his speed but some key Russian phrases such as: ‘My favourite colour is gold’ and ‘Have the other guys crossed the line yet?’

The 26-year-old is seen in a short video chilling out after training practising his newly-acquired language skills.

‘I’ve been listening to a few Russian words but it’s a definitely not an easy language. It’s very different to the way we speak in Jamaica, that’s for sure,’ he said.
