James Cameron has announced plans to make three sequels to his 2009 blockbuster Avatar, with production on the movies to begin in 2014.
The first of the trio will be released in December 2016, while the others are being primed for release in December 2017 and 2018 respectively.
The projects will team the director with Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, while War Of The Worlds’ Josh Friedman and scriptwriter Shane Salerno are also on board.
Meanwhile New Zealand’s Weta workshop – who created the visuals for the first film – will once again be involved.
