City’s whistle stop participation in the Audi Cup ended with a 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the final, rounding off two games in two days to continue their pre-season preparations.
They were certainly two contrasting games too. The first, against an under-strength and under-par Milan, saw City race to a 5-0 lead within half an hour, only to then concede three goals in six minutes before half-time. Typically, the second half then passed without a goal but victory meant City faced hosts Bayern, who were rounding off their pre-season, and despite Alvaro Negredo’s opening goal they conceded twice soon after.
