Ireland plane makes emergency landing due to suspected bomb threat

An aeroplane from Ireland has made an emergency landing in Philadelphia because of a suspected bomb threat.

US Airways Flight 777 from Shannon landed at Philadelphia International Airport this afternoon.

All passengers and their baggage were removed from the plane to be re-screened by police. Reports indicate that the plane was also put into isolation.

Law enforcement officials met the plane on the tarmac and passengers exited the jet to waiting buses.

FBI spokeswoman Carrie Adamowski said agents are assisting Transportation Security Administration officials in the investigation.

Police and airport officials say they don’t have any specifics about the threat or details about from where it may have originated.

US customs officials have screening facilities at Shannon Airport and the passengers aboard the plane would have gone through them before boarding.
