The Belgian is something of an unknown quantity in England but he starred in the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen last season and attracted the interest of big clubs like Bayer Leverkusen and Champions League runners-up Borussia Dortmund with his impressive displays.
During the 2012/13 season the 22-year-old made the most of his loan opportunity by scoring and assisting 10 goals in 33 games from Bremen’s midfield and has already looked bright in Chelsea blue during the pre-season.
