The National Executive Committee, NEC, of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has convened an emergency meeting for Thursday even as the fate of its National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, has become increasingly uncertain.
According to a notice signed by the Acting National Secretary of the PDP, Charles Akitoye, on Tuesday, the NEC meeting would hold at the national secretariat of the party at 11 a.m.
The NEC, the highest decision making organ of the ruling party, met last on June 20 during which some members of the National Working Committee, NWC, resigned their positions. The elections of the NWC members at the March 2012 National Convention had been faulted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in its report of the convention.
