Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Tottenham forward Gareth Bale, bringing to a close the summer’s longest-running transfer saga.
The Wales international was due to fly to the Spanish capital on Sunday night and will be unveiled at the Bernabeu Stadium on Monday morning.
Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas revealed: ‘Gareth is going to join Real Madrid so we wish him all the best.
‘He has moved on and so have we. We thank him for the memories. We have great memories from last season, which I am sure every Tottenham fan cherishes.’
