Chelsea ‘keen on £37million Sami Khedira’

Chelsea are weighing up an eye-watering summer move for Sami Khedira, according to Spanish reports.

The German is facing an uphill battle to win back his place in Real Madrid’s starting XI after recovering from injury, and could be made available for sale come the end of the season.

Spanish outlet Fichajes claims Jose Mourinho is keen to be reunited with one of his former midfield generals, and could be set to launch a £37million bid for his services.

Khedira was initially signed for Madrid by Mourinho back in 2010, and became a firm favourite under the Portuguese, who led the Spanish giants to one league title and one Spanish cup.

However, with the 27-year-old’s contract set to expire in 2015, reports of a £37m offer – which Manchester United allegedly offered last summer – seem wide of the mark.
