Chelsea Season Review

Locker Room Breakdown

Final Position: 3rd

Much was made of Mourinho’s return to Chelsea, but in his first season back Chelsea have been unsuccessful on all fronts. Despite beating Manchester City and Liverpool twice each Chelsea were unable to finish above either. Clearly missing a top-quality striker, something that they will look to address as soon as possible. Chelsea did make big strides this season, but having performed so well against their top rivals, they will be disappointed to have failed to win the league. Overall, a disappointing season.

Player of the Season: Eden Hazard

Their defenders were particularly impressive this season, but it was the electric Eden Hazard who was Chelsea’s most important player this season. His creativity and goalscoring ability disguised Chelsea’s dire need for a top striker for much of the season. There are rumors abound that he may be on his way to PSG –  and that would be…

Mourinho, Manchester United and Chelsea transfer rumors

Several Chelsea transfer rumors have emanated from the transfer mill even before the opening of the summer transfer window. Even before Jose Mourinho made his return to Stamford bridge at the end of last season several players have made the headlines as prospective summer Chelsea transfer targets. Roman Abramovich was initially said to have handed the new manager a £100M summer transfer kitty and many players (surprisingly, without Wayne Rooney at the beginning) have continually been linked to Stamford bridge in the continuing Chelsea transfer rumours.

However, contrary to what expectations in the Chelsea transfers, going by the many Chelsea transfer rumours that have filled newspaper headline daily, the club has indirectly made statement of intent to build the future of the club on young and talented players the club parades instead of spending BIG in the transfer market. the club wants to evolve a system akin to Barcelona’s which nurtures talents in the Chelsea Academy in preparation for future place in the first team. I think this makes some business sense for Chelsea FC. While the Chelsea transfer rumours that have linked players such as Demba Ba, David Luiz, Mikel Obi out of Stamford Bridge continue, Chelsea players have continued to bag the confidence of Jose Mourinho in their ability to fit into his plan. Jose Mourinho did make it clear that ‘no one is safe’ as he expects everyone to work hard to prove their worth in his team ahead of the new season. He had identified the defence and attacking departments as areas that need urgent reinforcement and that has guided the activities of Jose Mourinho and Chelsea FC in the transfer market thus far.

Chelsea brought back Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne and Thomas Kalas ,who spent last season on loan, for a chance in Jose Mourinho’s first team. Roman Abramovich and Mourinho want to get Chelsea FC back to the good old days of Chelsea dominance during Mourinho’s first spell at Stamford bridge. New signings Marco Van Ginkel and André schurle have arrived Stamford bridge this summer but Mourinho still maintains that Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney is the main target of Chelsea FC this summer as he tries to bolster his attacking options. Chelsea FC’s first £20M Wayne Rooney bid was earlier rejected by Manchester United. Wayne Rooney wants to leave Manchester United after Alex Ferguson alleged that the player had put in a transfer request last season which the player has vehemently denied and feels disappointed about it. The new coach of Manchester United did not help matters either has he revealed that Rooney will fall behind van Persie in the pecking order for the new season. Despite David Moye’s insistence that the player is not for sale, Chelsea FC have remained adamant in the pursuit of the striker. The want away Manchester United striker may see the opportunity of working with Jose Mourinho as a lease of live away from Old Trafford.

The Wayne Rooney and Lius Suarez’s transfer saga have headlined most of the newspaper lately with the major actors including Rogers, Alex Ferguson and David Moyes. The episode started during the reign of Sir Alex Ferguson and has been further aggravated from the time David Moyes made the disclosure that Wayne Rooney will play second fiddle to Van Persie. Sir Alex Ferguson had alleged that Wayne Rooney had submitted a transfer request to the club an allegation that was firmly denied by the latter and both men had not seen face to face thereafter.

If Wayne Rooney finally moves to be under Mourinho at Chelsea it will be thanks to Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes and their role in the whole transfer saga.

Report: LeBron Considering Presidency Bid for NBA Players Assocation

Black America Web

Miami Heat star Lebron James is currently considering a bid for presidency in the NBA Players Association.

“It’s something he has talked about with a small group of people,” a source with close ties to James told FOXSports.com’s Jason Whitlock  on Wednesday. “He was very vocal at the meeting during the All-Star Weekend about the need for the union to dramatically change. There is a new executive director coming in and new commissioner. He recognizes that this is the time for the union to change.”

With the current president, Derek Fisher, at the end of his career, most likely he will not return. His term as president expired this summer, he just recently signed a new contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Fisher is also facing a lawsuit from the union’s former executive director, Billy Hunter.

18-year veteran Jerry Stackhouse, who served as the first vice president, had been…

Gareth Bale’s reps set for crunch talks with Tottenham hierarchy

ProSoccerTalk

Spurs supporters – avert your eyes.

We may see some traction this week in the Gareth Bale saga as the winger’s representatives hope to meet Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to discuss a potential move to Real Madrid.

Returning to London from Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong, the club has been granted two days of down time before preparations begin for Saturday’s friendly in Monaco. It’s a match that, with Bale’s glute muscle issue and the growing murmurs of his discontent, the winger is unlikely to feature.

The source of Bale’s ire has been well publicized: Levy has refused to consider the $133 million (€100m) bid that Madrid has reportedly tabled for the 24 year old. From all indications, Spurs will remain resolute in their denial of selling Bale, world record fee or not.

The issue then becomes, how far is Bale willing to take his vexation?

He could try to force…
